Fast and furious, store bought sauce and naam.... And the rice theme continues!

I'm an advocate of good food and happy eating. After a long hiatus, this blog has been dusted off to post those food pics that people bemoan on Facebook. First challenge for 2016 - posting an evening meal a day for a month to share with a BFF in Spain...

Seafood bliss in a bowl
There is nothing more delicious and healthy to me than raw fish. Here it's served in coconut milk with capsicum, cucumber and tomatoes (I leave out the red onion as it's a bit tangy for the children).
On the side it's an iron rich seaweed salad and rice.
Heaven in a bowl!

Cabbage my kids love
Tonight's menu consisted of lamb steaks, jasmine rice with bacon, mushroom and cabbage.
Flavoured with hints of curry my kids adore this dish (with the exception of the littlest)...today made that much more tasty because it came from our garden (possibly extra protein with a few caterpillars).

Nom nom spinach tart
Day 10 a spinach, feta and filo tart accompanied by mushrooms, roasted peppers & asparagus with bacon.
Zucchini chocolate muffins for laters....
A little bit vege...
I try to cook vegetarian at least once a week. On day nine I made Annabele Langbien's zucchini, feta and mint fritters served with lemon couscous and a cucumber, tomato and feta salad (my go to salad in summer).
The best bit was the kids loved them!
The garden is full of zucchini and cucumbers so they're going to feature a bit this month I suspect...especially those fritters!

Absent meals. .
I realized I've missed four days worth of meals....
Day five the MOTH and I were celebrating 10 years of marriage in picturesque Greytown. Lovely dinner at the White Swan Hotel. The MOTH tucked into a superb steak, I opted for pork belly.
Day six lunch was a delicious meal at Aroma India -we were so full we didn't bother with an evening meal!
The past two days I prepared dinner a little on the late side...we were all so hungry that we'd finished eating before I got a snapshot of family-friendly antipasto and last night's vege nachos!
Better planning for tonight.... ;-)
